WordPress’s innate ability to handle cross-referenced tags and categorize information provides an extensible, adaptive system for the website to grow. Working with Hull Creative Group’s design, we provided the structure and interface guidance.

On the home page, there is a great example of sliding graphics, using Jeremy Martins’ “Kwicks” jQuery plugin. The fluid feel of this element helps deliver the high-tech message.

When searching and nothing is found, the code suggests possible relevant topics, while delivering a proper 404 response.

We coded special layouts for special sections in the website keep things different, yet consistent. A unique feature is automatic cross-linking of publications to each of the key staff members. When one is added, it automatically attaches itself to the proper author(s) through the use of tags.

BKJ Productions

Web Design

animation

database

wordpress
<guid

So, we’re using the same content management system that we have set up for many of our clients. It only takes a few minutes to make an update. We’ve added a few Flash headlines with a bit of animation to keep it interesting, and are leveraging the capabilities of Delicious.com to keep track of our recommended bookmarks.

On the “Fun stuff” page you’ll also find our webcam, which is pointed at Malden Center, currently.

We also use a special version of the same content management system, in-house, to keep track of research, development notes, and managing tasks. The inhouse site is password-protected, of course.

ReptonPlace.com

Web Design

brochure site

database

featured

floorplans

real estate

website link
<guid

We were brought in to implement and manage the site, and have revised the home page several times.

Like most brochure-type real estate websites, this one has a set of floorplans viewable online and downloadable PDFs— but we were able to add a small database to keep track of units which were sold. Since we wear many hats ourselves–design, programming, illustration, video–we also created a “light box” camera rig to achieve consistent results when photographing the hats.

This site relies heavily on social networking tools, such as Facebook and Flickr, since, as a nonprofit, there is not much budget for marketing, and it is hoped that word-of-mouth will generate sales.

Behind the scenes, we set up a database, with a user interface created with Django, to allow the client to maintain quantities of products available, uploading new photos as needed. Throughout the site, there is extensive use of jQuery for visual effects, with a little bit of Flash thrown in for good measure. The content can also be changed by the client using our proprietary “QuickFix” editor.

Shibui

Web Design

database

featured

flash

illustration

integration

slideshow

website link

wordpress
<guid

Created with Adams Design.

Design your own dress by choosing fabrics and the style. We created a Flash interface that connects to a client-maintained database of fabric swatches. Due to limitations of such a the simulation, we included a way to alter the scale and angle of the tiled pattern.

Behind the scenes, the client is able to update the swatches using SlideShowPro, our favorite image management database tool. The content of most pages is also easily updated using a very friendly content management system. A blog is also included, which helps add the personal touch essential for reaching out to customers.

We also created the sketches. Working from a computer-generated diagram, our artist chose a brush stroke to capture the nature of “shibui.” Rather than trying to be dead-on realistic, which would require massive amounts of rendering time and result in an unnatural “CGI” look, we opted for the brush-swatch approach‚Äîthe loose style also helps to leave some room for the imagination as to how the dress will ultimately turn out in a particular pattern.

Melrose Alliance Against Violence

Web Design

database

featured

nonprofit

slideshow

website link

wordpress
<guid

But for a small organization, it became quite time-consuming as the site grew. Through the use of WordPress, we made it possible for the staff to update the site in-house. And with a limited budget, every penny saved there can help further the cause of their mission, preventing violence and domestic abuse.
