Since we wear many hats ourselves–design, programming, illustration, video–we also created a “light box” camera rig to achieve consistent results when photographing the hats.

This site relies heavily on social networking tools, such as Facebook and Flickr, since, as a nonprofit, there is not much budget for marketing, and it is hoped that word-of-mouth will generate sales.

Behind the scenes, we set up a database, with a user interface created with Django, to allow the client to maintain quantities of products available, uploading new photos as needed. Throughout the site, there is extensive use of jQuery for visual effects, with a little bit of Flash thrown in for good measure. The content can also be changed by the client using our proprietary “QuickFix” editor.
